When to serve dinner? A DIY reception dilemma.

So we are DIYing our wedding food… sort of. My family are providing all of the sides for our meal and we are ordering meat by the pound from a BBQ place. Our sides are going to be macaroni and cheese, baked beans (with keilbasa and bacon in them), potato salad, cole slaw, green salad, and corn bread. The place providing the meat cannot deliver the food to our venue which is about an hour and 15 minutes away. The ceremony starts at 2pm and we are doing the reception immediately following it (we are doing quick group pictures on site and then more pictures that morning of and the next night). We were planning on doing some appetizers first and then serving dinner at like 4:30 or 5. In that time we would do some group games we have planned, do the first dances, etc. Now I’m thinking keeping the food hot that long is just not a good idea.

What do people think about doing dinner so early at like 3:30? If people have other ideas I’d be glad to hear it. One option I keep trying to figure out is to pick up the food the day before and reheat it the day of, but we don’t have ovens at our venue, just grills. :-/

Any ideas would be welcome! :)
